Overview
Bacteriostatic Water for Injection (BWFI) is sterile water preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol (w/v). The benzyl alcohol acts as a bacteriostatic agent by disrupting bacterial cell membrane integrity, inhibiting microbial growth in multi-use vials. BWFI is used in laboratory settings as a solvent for reconstituting lyophilized research peptides and compounds, maintaining sterility across multiple sampling events during in vitro experiments.
